The Relationships Centre Leicestershire (formerly Relate Leicestershire) is commissioned by the Intergrated Care Board (ICB) to provide an a low to moderate child, adolescent mental health service (CAHMs) called the Early Intervention Service (EIS).
This service provides emotional wellbeing and therapeutic support for children and young people between the age of 5-18 years old, and their parents/carers, living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland with low to moderate mental health needs.
This service offers a range of support, including counselling, psychological therapires CYP (previously IAPT CYP) and groupwork for children, young people and parents/carers dependent on need.
Children and Young People who access our service may be experiencing one or more of the below concerns:
To access this service, you will need to be assessed and referred by your GP or you can complete a self-referral through Triage and Navigation to ensure that EIS is the best service for you.
EIS is made up of two organisations: The Relationships Centre and Heads Up, and offers a range of support interventions for children, young people and parents/carers. The service aims to promote positive mental health, increase healthy coping strategies and encourage communication and support.
Working with Partner Agencies
We are committed to working closely with schools, health services, social care and other specialist organisations to ensure young people receive safe, effective and coordinated support.
Where a young person is already receiving therapeutic support from another agency, we will carefully consider whether additional counselling through our service is appropriate. This is because multiple therapeutic interventions delivered at the same time can sometimes lead to duplication, overwhelm, conflicting approaches and reduced effectiveness of support.
In these circumstances, we will work collaboratively with the young person, their family and partner agencies to identify the most appropriate lead service and ensure that support is coordinated and in the young person's best interests.

Information for parents/carers
The EIS Service is not a crisis or urgent mental health service and is unable to support children and young people with high level mental health needs such as those who are actively suicidal. The intention of our service is largely to prevent serious mental health issues from developing. If your child is in crisis or needs urgent mental health support please either call 999 or take them to children's A&E.
