Children & Young People Safeguarding Policy
The Relationships Centre Leicestershire (formerly Relate Leicestershire) is committed to equality, diversity, inclusion and respect for all our staff, clients, customers and volunteers. Our vision is a future where healthy relationships are actively promoted as the heart of a thriving society. As such, we strive to ensure that the values and behaviours of equality, diversity, inclusion and respect are at the heart of everything we do.
We have achieved the Rainbow Flag Award; a national quality assurance framework that focuses on positive LGBTQ+ inclusion and visibility.
Everyone in The Relationships Centre Leicestershire (formerly Relate Leicestershire) has an individual responsibility to understand and promote this policy and work towards our vision.
As an NHS provider of services, we comply with Section 12 and 13 of the Standard NHS Contract.
The Relationships Centre Leicestershire (formerly Relate Leicestershire) operates a Zero Tolerance Policy.
This means any abusive behaviour (physical or verbal) towards out counsellors, admin staff, or management team will not be tolerated under any circumstances, regardless of whether this behaviour takes place in person, over the phone, or via online platforms such as Zoom or email.
All our staff members are here to help members of the public and deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect.
From time to time, clients or organisations such as Social Care, solicitors or courts ask us to provide reports or comment on the progress made during counselling or a report for a court case. In most cases, we are unable to do this. This is partly because we have a duty to protect client confidentiality, and also because The Relationships Centre Leicestershire's practitioners are not trained to make formal diagnoses and can not act as a clinician.
The notes we keep are also very limited. They are brief summaries intended only to help with continuity between sessions, not detailed transcripts of what was said and by who. As such, they provide little value when supporting with a court case or a document of progression.
In certain situations, and only with written consent from the client(s) involved, we can confirm the dates and number of sessions attended to this organisations.
We are occasionally asked for access to client records by clients themselves, their solicitors, the police, or the courts. However, these records are not appropriate for use in legal proceedings. For this reason, The Relationships Centre Leicestershire may resist requests to produce them in court. This helps us protect client confidentiality and maintain our long-standing reputation for offering safe and confidential counselling and relationship support.
We will however, support a client's direct request for access to their records in like with UKGDPR law.
